“As attorneys dedicated to preserving and protecting the rights of our citizens, we feel that we have a responsibility and obligation to lend assistance to those in need. We have focused our energies on various charitable causes, predominantly in the areas of child safety and child-abuse prevention. Every staff member volunteers time, energy and money to help protect our greatest resource – our children,” said Jeanmarie Whalen as she presented the check to Dorla Leslie, executive director of The Center.
Whalen has served on the Board of Directors of CFS since 2004.
Leslie stated, “Through the stewardship and generosity of many supporters and volunteers over the past four decades, we have touched over 500,000 lives and changed them for the better. Your commitment ensures that we will continue to be able to provide for the healthy future of families and children in our community.”
Accredited by the Council on Accreditation in 1985, The Center for Family Services is a 47 year-old non-profit social services organization whose mission is strengthening families through counseling, education and homeless intervention. The agency provides a full spectrum of services to homeless families with children, individuals recovering from an addiction, specialized treatment for abused children, victims of domestic violence and families at risk, as well as individual and family counseling. The Center also operates early childhood educational programs and has the largest HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) program in the State of Florida.
