LAW FIRM NEWS

Cunningham, a partner in the personal injury, insurance and bad faith firm of Slawson Cunningham Whalen & Gaspari in Palm Beach Gardens, has been a member of the Palm Beach County Justice Association for 13 years and has served on its Board for 10 years. He practices in the areas of insurance bad faith and personal injury/wrongful death.
For several years, Cunningham served on the Board of Directors of the North County Section of the Palm Beach County Bar and served as its President for the 2000-2001 year. He is currently Secretary for the Florida Justice Association and will assume presidency of that organization, which serves 3,500 attorneys statewide, in 2011. Cunningham graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1988 and was admitted to practice in Florida in 1988.
Of his plans for his term, Cunningham said, “The PBCJA is interested in advancing the art of being a trial lawyer. We also provide social networking and educational opportunities for our members, and we support charitable causes.
“In the past, we’ve been sympathetic to issues involving children. For example, last year we made a contribution to help a high school that had a mock trial competition. But that’s not all we do. We’ll consider any worthy cause.”
When Cunningham evaluates the Board of PBCJA, he sees other attorneys who are very interested in helping others and who are willing to volunteer their time and energy to promoting the ideal that practicing law is a noble profession.
“I want to change the perception of lawyers, one person at a time,” Cunningham said.
Established in 1985 with the goal of providing civil trial lawyers with the tools and resources needed to improve and enhance their trial practices, the Palm Beach County Justice Association continues today by offering its members educational and professional development through monthly networking meetings, continuing legal education seminars and an extensive litigation bank. PBCJA is dedicated to inspiring excellence in advocacy, upholding the honor and dignity of the legal profession, and encouraging the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity of civil trial lawyers in Palm Beach County.
